Paying for dental treatment over time
Many private practices offer credit through an FCA-authorised lender, often interest-free over a short term. We do not compare lenders, name them, or earn anything from them — this page only sets out what to check before you sign.
- Ask for the total repayable, not the monthly figure. A low monthly payment over a longer term can cost hundreds more than the treatment.
- Check whether the interest-free period covers the whole balance or only part of it, and what rate applies afterwards.
- Confirm what happens if treatment changes. A plan agreed for one quote does not automatically cover extra work found at the appointment.
- You normally have 14 days to withdraw from a credit agreement. Ask how that works before you sign, not after.
- Check the lender on the FCA register at register.fca.org.uk. A practice is not itself the lender; it introduces you to one.
- Compare the total against the published prices on this site. Paying over time makes an expensive quote affordable — it does not make it typical.
